The following Blackboard question formats are unsupported or do not import correctly in Canvas:
- Surveys: Surveys will be converted to quizzes in Canvas. It’s recommended to use Microsoft Forms or Qualtrics if you need to give your students a survey. You can create an assignment with a link to the survey if you need to track student submissions in Canvas.
- File Upload: These question types are supported, but fail to import correctly into Canvas. The question description will appear as a text block when imported (with a note saying the question is unsupported) and disappear when the quiz is migrated to the New Quiz format. You can fix this, but it’s recommended to do so before migrating the quiz to the New Quiz format.
- Edit the quiz and question, set the Question Type to File Upload Question, and enter the point value. Then, migrate the quiz to the New Quiz format by clicking the three dots next to the quiz in the Quizzes area of the course and selecting Migrate.
- If you migrate the quiz to New Quiz format before fixing the question, the question will disappear.
- Fill-in-the-blank questions with multiple correct answers: Fill-in-the-blank questions that have multiple correct answers (such as different spellings of the answer) may import incorrectly and merge all possible answers into one answer, causing the students to always get the question incorrect. You may need to manually verify all fill-in-the-blank questions after import to ensure they are correct.
- Hotspot, Ordering: These question types are supported, but fail to import correctly into Canvas. You will need to remake these questions after migrating the quiz to the New Quiz format.
- Opinion Scale or Likert Questions: These question types are unsupported and do not import. You can either recreate these as multiple choice questions, or use Microsoft Forms or Qualtrics for survey purposes.
- Jumbled Sentence: This question type is unsupported and does not import. After migrating your quiz to the New Quiz format, you can create a Fill in the Blank question, and for each blank you can chose the answer type as Dropdown or Word Bank to mimic this functionality.
- Quiz Bowl: This question type is unsupported and does not import. You can recreate this question as a Fill in the Blank or multiple choice question.
