Dear Faculty and Staff,
Earlier today at Faculty Senate, the Innovations in Learning and Teaching (QILT) team shared the outcome of the Learning Management System (LMS) evaluation and the selection of Canvas as our new LMS!
The evaluation looked at Blackboard Ultra and Canvas against several different criteria. Canvas excelled in key areas, such as:
- User Experience
- Assessment and Grading Tools
- Course Management and Facilitation
- Accessibility and Inclusivity
- Support and Training
- Integration and Innovation
Additionally, 69% of LMS demo session attendees said they preferred Canvas after seeing both platforms, and 71% of the LMS evaluation committee voted in favor of Canvas after conducting their own research and testing.
Thank you to all the faculty and staff who played a pivotal role in this decision. Over 230 faculty and instructional staff participated in the University-wide survey, over 100 participated in demo sessions held by QILT, and 90 explored each platform in their own sandboxes.
The full evaluation report can be found on QILT’s website: QILT.qu.edu/LMSEval24Report.
The Canvas page on QILT.qu.edu has additional information about Canvas, the migration, workshops, and how to contact the team with Canvas-related questions or comments.
The team will be sending an e-mail tomorrow with more information on the next steps for our community.
I’m excited about the positive impact Canvas will have on our teaching and learning experiences here at Quinnipiac!
Warmly,
Debra Liebowitz
