Dear Canvas Faculty,
The new Differentiation Tags feature is now enabled in our Canvas environment! Differentiation Tags allow you to create custom sets of students within your course. Once applied, these tags, which are hidden from students, enable you to personalize learning by controlling access to specific assignments, quizzes, pages, discussions, or modules. You can also vary due dates or availability windows by tags.
Whether you’re supporting accommodations, organizing clinical cohorts, or offering enrichment opportunities, Differentiation Tags provide a simple, flexible way to meet students where they are, all within a single course. Even better, the Canvas Gradebook can be filtered by tags, too!
Learn more about Differentiation Tags, including how they differ from sections and groups, how to create them, and how to manage them, in our step-by-step guide.
Canvas support is available 24/7/365 via phone or chat through the Help menu in Canvas, so you’re never on your own when trying something new.
And, as always, QILT is here to support you. If you’d like to explore how to implement Differentiation Tags in your course, please contact your learning designer. If you aren't sure who your learning designer is, I'm more than happy to connect you.
Best,
Joel
