Dear Colleagues,
We want to share an important update about our migration to Canvas, Quinnipiac's new learning management system.
Based on the success and feedback collected on our Summer 2025 opt-in process, we are shifting our migration approach from a by-course opt-in model to a by-program opt-in model. This change is designed to streamline the migration process and enhance the overall teaching and learning experience within programs. It will also help QILT better support you and your faculty during the migration.
Two Benefits of the By-Program Opt-In Model:
- Template Creation and Establishing Shared Practices: Programs will have the opportunity to implement standardized templates and shared instructional practices across all courses, fostering a cohesive and streamlined experience for both faculty and students.
- Improved Management of Multi-Section Courses: Managing and coordinating multi-section courses is significantly easier in Canvas, which will support better alignment of course materials and assessments.
We are thrilled with the faculty response regarding using Canvas for their Summer 2025 courses! Our team is actively collaborating with those who opted in, preparing to launch more than 85 courses in Canvas this summer. The work on these courses does not stop with this change in model. If your programs have courses running in Canvas this summer, consider leveraging the insights and experiences of the faculty teaching these courses.
Action Steps:
Starting today, programs can complete our Canvas Request Form to opt-in and use Canvas for their Fall 2025 courses.
- An associate dean, department chair, program director, or other designated rep must complete the form in consultation with their school leadership.
- If a program opts to use Canvas for its Fall 2025 courses, we will work with them to develop a timeline for migrating their J-Term, Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 courses.
- Deadline to opt-in to use Canvas for Fall 2025 courses: April 30, 2025.
In the Fall 2025 opt-in request, please provide the following:
- List of department or program courses and the next term they will run (if known)
- Associated faculty (if known)
- Other information you think we should know before scheduling a kick-off meeting.
After we receive your request, we will contact you to schedule a kick-off meeting with you and any faculty and staff you identify as needing to be present. Learning designers from our team will attend the meeting and stay connected throughout the entire process for individual consultations and more.
