What is Canvas?
Canvas is our new Learning Management System. Starting in the fall of 2026, it will be the home for all courses at Quinnipiac.
Program, department, and school leadership teams have been deciding when it is best for their courses to migrate to Canvas from Blackboard. Our earliest adopters have been using Canvas since Spring 2025.
J-Term & Spring 2026 Courses
On October 1, department chairs received information on how to indicate in Colleague that their courses should use Canvas. Colleague administrators also received information related to this from the Registrar. You can read the e-mail sent to chairs here.
If your course is using Canvas in J-Term or Spring 2026, be on the lookout for an e-mail from QILT@qu.edu with the subject:
- “IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Preparing Your J-Term 2026 Course in Canvas”
or
- “IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Preparing Your Spring 2026 Course in Canvas”
Inside the e-mail, you will find all the information you need to start building your J-Term or Spring course in Canvas. You will also find information on how to schedule a one-on-one meeting with one of our learning designers.
If you have questions about your courses, please reach out to your chair or school leadership.
Organization Sites
Some organization site leaders have already worked with us to migrate their content from Blackboard or start their organization fresh in Canvas.
If you’re eager to move your organization's site to Canvas today, submit a request to us. Alternatives to using Canvas (like SharePoint) can be explained during the migration conversations.
Please see this page for information about student advising organizations.
Resources for Using Canvas
If you need help with Canvas, remember there are 24/7/365 phone and chat support options in the Canvas Help menu. We also have a growing collection of resources on our Instructor Resources for Canvas page!
