Canvas was chosen following an extensive evaluation comparing Anthology’s Blackboard Ultra and Instructure’s Canvas learning management systems. The evaluation consisted of:

• establishing a learning management system evaluation committee
• running a University-wide survey
• creating sandboxes for interested faculty and staff to explore each system
• enrolling interested faculty and staff in an asynchronous introduction to the platform course
• running live demo sessions
• meeting with stakeholder groups across the University with unique needs in an LMS
