Canvas was chosen following an extensive evaluation comparing Anthology’s Blackboard Ultra and Instructure’s Canvas learning management systems. The evaluation consisted of:
- establishing a learning management system evaluation committee
- running a University-wide survey
- creating sandboxes for interested faculty and staff to explore each system
- enrolling interested faculty and staff in an asynchronous introduction to the platform course
- running live demo sessions
- meeting with stakeholder groups across the University with unique needs in an LMS
