Creating an assignment in your course gives students a place to submit their work electronically. Creating an assignment also creates a column in the Grade Center, and Blackboard will send you a notification when a student submits their work. To create a file upload assignment, follow the steps below!
- In the content area where you’d like the assignment to be located, click “Assessments” and then “Assignment.”
- Give the assignment a name and write instructions for the student, such as what they need to write about, page count, citation format, etc.
- If applicable, include a file with your instructions, such as a template for students to use, an exemplar of a good submission, something they need to read and reflect on, etc.
- Set the number of points this assignment is worth. Optionally, you may create or add a rubric here.
There are other options under “Submission Details,” “Grading Options,” and “Display of Grades” that you can adjust if this is a group submission, if you want to limit the number of submission attempts, if the student submissions should be checked for plagiarism, etc.
- Optionally, adjust if the assignment should be available now (you can come back and make the assignment available later), and if the assignment should show after and hide on a certain date and time.
- Click “Submit” to create the assignment.
