Rise courses can be added to Canvas courses for your students to view and complete. It’s a great tool for creating interactive asynchronous lessons and for tracking student completion. Here are instructions for adding your Rise content to Canvas:
- In Rise, select “Publish” from the upper right of your course, and choose “LMS”.
- Choose:
- LMS: “xAPI”
- Set tracking options as desired
- Turn “Exit Course Link” on
- Click “Publish” to generate the .zip file
- Save the ZIP file to your computer without extracting it.
- Navigate to your Canvas course.
- Click “Settings” in the course navigation menu.
- Click “Navigation” at the top of the page.
- Scroll down to “SCORM” in the list of disabled navigation items at the bottom, click the three vertical dots “⋮”, and then click Enable.
- Click “SCORM” in the course navigation menu.
- Click “Upload” and select your .zip SCORM package.
- After the file uploads, click “Choose import type…” and choose whether to import it as:
- Graded Assignment (recommended to track completion, you can adjust later to not count towards final grade)
- Ungraded Assignment
- Click “Go”.
- Navigate to “Assignments” in the Course Navigation Menu. The Rise course will now appear as an assignment located in the first assignment group at the top.
- Open the assignment for the Rise module and click “Edit Assignment Settings” in the top right corner.
- Choose:
- Select which Assignment Group the Rise should belong to.
- If you want this Rise lesson to not count towards the final grade, check the box for “Do not count this assignment towards the final grade”; otherwise, leave it unchecked.
- Under “Submission Type”, click “Load This Tool in a New Tab.”
- Click “Save and Publish”
- Add the Rise course to a Module
- Navigate to “Modules” in the Course Navigation Menu
- Find the Module you want to add the Rise to and click the + button in the top right of the module
- Select “Assignment” from the dropdown menu, click on the Rise lesson’s name and click “Add Item”.
