Generative Artificial Intelligence
You will take from reading in this course what you put into it. Each class will lean heavily on your personal sensemaking of the reading. I would like to encourage you to use AI with integrity.
AI may be used to:
- collaboratively brainstorm ideas (assessments, rubrics, handouts, lesson ideas, etc) and cite (Co-authored with type of AI (date))
- suggest revisions on your writing but not used to revise your writing,
- Do not: ChatGPT Prompt - "Revise the following for clarity."
- Feel free to: ChatGPT Prompt - "Suggest ways I can improve the clarity of the following"
- Then YOU revise YOUR writing based on suggestions and cite. (Edited with type of AI (date))
- help to create images that represent your thinking and sensemaking - This should be a conversation, a series of asks for revisions, additions, etc with AI and cite (Created with type of AI (date))
AI may NOT be used to:
- write reading reflections, discussion responses, or complete projects such as lesson plans
If you do use AI, be sure to cite it appropriately. This is difficult because there is not a standard just yet, APA and MLA have models. I am looking for a statement within your work that indicates any or all of the following:
- Co-authored with type of AI (date) - had dialogue with the AI to brainstorm and refine ideas (not discussions or reflections or lesson plans)
- Edited with type of AI (date) - AI suggested revisions on your work and you personally edited where you saw fit.
- Created with type of AI (date) - if you make an image or a model through a co-authorship with AI
Be honest about using AI, if you are not sure - ask. I want to have a conversation that is initiated by you, not a conversation because I am questioning your work.
