Overview
A Course of Record is the official Canvas course created for a scheduled university class. It is automatically generated through the university's student information system and contains the official student enrollments. Your Course of Record is where you teach your class throughout the semester. It is the course students access to view content, submit assignments, participate in discussions, and receive grades.
Characteristics
- Automatically created for each scheduled course section.
- Contains the official student roster and continually syncs with the university's registration system.
- Used for teaching, grading, and student communication.
- Student work and grades are stored in this course.
- Content from a Sandbox or previous course can be copied into the Course of Record before teaching begins. Instructions for copying content in Canvas can be found here →
