Setting Different Due Date/Time
Applies to: Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions
You can create Differentiation tags, such as “extended due date”, for multiple students and then assign that differentiation tag a due date. This can make it easier to set due date accommodations without having to remember which student had the accommodation. Learn how to use differentiation tags for accommodations here →
- Navigate to the Assignments, Quizzes, or Discussions area of your Canvas course.
- Select the three dots on the right side of the content you would like to edit, and select “Edit.”
- Scroll down to the “Assign To” section, select the gray “+ Assign To” button, and indicate which student(s) should have a different due date/time set, and set the different due date/time. You can complete this step multiple times by selecting the gray “+ Assign To” button.
- Optionally, set an “Available from” date if you would like to set when the content should be made available to the student(s). Note that for quizzes, setting a date in “Available until” will prevent students from seeing results after that date.
- Select the blue “Save” button.
Unless otherwise set, all other students will receive the due date/time and available from/until settings, which can be found under the “Everyone else” box.
This must be configured for each assignment, quiz, or discussion.
Extended Time or Reduced Answer Questions Across All Quizzes
Applies to: Quizzes

- Set their time multiplier accommodation or reduced answer question setting. This results in one incorrect answer for each multiple choice question that has 4 or more possible answers.
This can be configured once and will be automatically applied to that student for every quiz in the course.
