Quizzes
Improved Quiz Accommodation Tray
The quiz accommodation tray has been redesigned for clarity and ease of use. Instructors can now apply time adjustments and reopen a student’s quiz attempt in a single action. The tray also shows a real-time breakdown of all time sources, the base quiz time, any course-level accommodations, and the quiz-level adjustment. With this improvement, instructors will always know what the student’s total allowed time will be before saving.
- If a student is actively taking the quiz, any adjustments made will target the in-progress session, and not adjust a previously graded one.
- If a quiz is past its due date, all accommodation fields are disabled, and a message will be displayed to the instructor.
- If granting extra time would push the student’s completion past the due date, an informational warning is shown. The warning can be dismissed, and the extra time setting can be saved.
Partial Credit for Categorization Question Type
Automatic partial credit scoring is now available for Categorization question types. This allows instructors to award points for correct categorization decisions, providing a more precise measurement of student understanding.
- Scores are calculated based on total number of correct decisions, rather than all-or-nothing scoring.
- Correct decisions include placing items in the correct category and leaving distractor items unplaced.
When building a Categorization question, the “Grading” section (1) displays in the Options drop-down menu. For descriptions of each grading option, click the “?” icon (2).
Default Font Setting
Instructors can now set a default font and font size to automatically apply to their quiz content. This ensures a consistent look and reduces the need for manual formatting across multiple questions.
The default font and font size can be enabled and edited in the quiz settings.
SpeedGrader
Current Student Indicator
In SpeedGrader, the student drop-down menu now includes an indicator showing which student is currently being viewed.
Annotate Rotated Pages
In SpeedGrader, pages can be rotated before an instructor annotates them. This allows instructors to rotate incorrectly oriented pages before adding annotations, making it easier to review and provide feedback without requiring a resubmission. Students will see the annotations in the orientation selected by the instructor.
After an annotation is added to a page, the page cannot be rotated unless the annotation is removed.
